At Carbon Nurture, we merge materials science and microbiology to engineer soil-biodegradable mulch films that work for your fields — and for the planet. Our proprietary polymer-biodegradation process delivers the strength and performance of conventional plastics throughout the growing season, then activates a natural breakdown cycle — allowing the film to safely return to the soil after harvest.
How it woRks
Install Like Plastic
Works with standard bed-layer equipment
Lays tight and tear-resistant, even in tough soils
Shelf-stable until you’re ready to use

Protect Your Crops
4–6 months of weed suppression and moisture retention
Reduces fruit rot & crop loss by keeping soil contact controlled
Proven consistent under heat, rain, wind & variable conditions

Biodegrades in Soil
After harvest, simply till it in, no cleanup, no landfill costs
Starts breaking down after 4–6 months
Fully biodegrades into water, CO₂, & organic matter
Standards: ASTM D6954 & EN17033

How Carbon Nurture Works
Carbon Nurture mulch film installs like plastic, protects your crops all season, and then biodegrades naturally in soil with no hauling, no landfill, no waste.
Engineered with proprietary biodegradable technology and proven through independent trials, it keeps your crops protected, your soil healthy, and your farm free of plastic waste.
Farmers using Carbon Nurture reduce cleanup labor by up to 15 hours per acre — freeing time and money for what matters most.
The Science Behind the Film
Carbon Nurture mulch film combines the strength of polyethylene with natural minerals and a proprietary catalyst that allows it to fully biodegrade in soil. After harvest, simply till it in. Soil microbes convert the film into water, CO₂, organic matter, and nutrients. Nothing harmful is left behind.
Smart Materials for Modern Agriculture
Our proprietary polymer-catalyst blend creates mulch films that are strong, flexible and reliable in the field - yet engineered to break down when their job is done. PFAS and heavy-metals free.

Nature Triggers Breakdown
During the season, sunlight, soil heat, and moisture trigger a controlled oxidation process, weaking polymer chains in the mulch film. After harvest, soil microbes do the rest - consuming the fragmens of mulch film.
Verified Soil Biodegradability
We follow global standards, including ASTM D6954, 5988 and EN 17033 with exposure, to ensure every SoilBond product meets the highest biodegradation benchmarks. Learn more...

What This Means for Farmers
Carbon Nurture is built to perform like plastic mulch in the field, but without the plastic waste.
-
Tough enough for standard equipment
-
Tear-resistant and durable all season
-
Shelf-stable until you’re ready to use
-
Boosts soil organic carbon levels after use
-
Prevents 40–60 lbs of plastic waste per acre
-
Saves $288 in labor, fuel, hauling and disposal costs
-
Reduces carbon footprint of your field
-
Saves up to 750 labor hours per 50 acres — no removal, hauling, or landfill fees

Proven by Research and Shown by Data
In independent field trials with Rutgers University, Carbon Nurture mulch film:
-
Matched or exceeded yields of plastic mulch
-
Provided comparable weed suppression and moisture retention
-
Showed measurable soil organic carbon gains
-
Left zero microplastic contamination after breakdown

Carbon Nurture mulch film is made from a proprietary blend of biodegradable polymers and minerals designed to deliver the performance of conventional polyethylene mulch while naturally breaking down in the soil after use. Visit How It Works page to find more about our technology.
No, Carbon Nurture mulch film does not contain oxo-fragmentable additives. Our product nurtures the soil rather than pollutes it. Our technology is based on redox reactions, ensuring complete biodegradation.
Yes, unlike similar biodegradable products, ours is shelf stable. Store it in a dry area away from sunlight, preferably in its original packaging. If stored properly, it will perform just as well in future seasons.
We engineered several products to cover your crop cycle needs. Their performance time ranges from 4 months for SoilBond Pro to 10 months for SoilBond Berry. See Product Page for the full product offering.
